What is Taro?

Taro (Taproot Asset Representation Overlay) is a proposed protocol for issuing digital assets directly on the Bitcoin blockchain. If approved, this would reshape Bitcoin from just a single asset blockchain (with BTC) into a multi-asset network with utility tokens, stablecoins, security tokens, and more. Taro assets would also be compatible with the Lightning Network for faster and cheaper transactions.
